Today we took Addington School to visit...
STEM events and activities
We are pleased to announce that we are organising two large events in Reading and Wokingham in July to help young people, whether at school or college, raise their awareness of the different careers and opportunities that exist within STEM industries.
Young people will be able to participate in a wide range of activities delivered by local and national employers such as Verizon, Carillion, Jacobs, and many others.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that the UK is facing a technical skills shortage.
According to the UK Commission for Employment & Skills, 43% of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) vacancies are hard to fill. This is mainly due to a shortage of applicants with the required skills, experience and enthusiasm.
We are pleased to bring these events to you free of charge due to funding that has been successfully secured from the European Social Fund and Education & Skills Funding Agency.
Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th July and is hosted by Verizon, Reading
Thursday 13th and Friday 14th July and is hosted by Winnersh Triangle, Wokingham
There is no restriction on the number of students you can bring to either event as there is capacity to host 600 young people across the two days of each event.
The only condition is that they must be at least 15 years old by the day of the event they are attending.
We would urge you to book your places as soon as possible as these events have been offered across Berkshire and the surrounding counties. Therefore, places are offered on a first come first served basis so please complete the booking form and return it to me as soon as you can.
Please click on the links below to download the booking form and school poster.
If you have students who will no longer be at school by the time these events take place but they would still like to attend, they can book a FREE place by visiting either of the eventbrite links below to book a ticket.
